PBR Wing Textures
Posted by Viatcheslav on Tuesday, February 10. 2026
Today we’d like to share a small work-in-progress update on the wing panels and rivets for our ATR 72 add-on, focusing on the 3D model and textures.
The wings use PBR textures, and we’re also experimenting with a few new techniques. Instead of texturing rivets directly on paintkit, all riveting variation are handled via decals. This approach helps keep VRAM usage under control and eliminates concerns about excessive polygon counts.
In total, the wings and stabilizers come in at roughly 4,000 polygons, while still delivering crisp surface details and solid visual quality. Efficient, clean, and—hopefully—kind to your FPS.

As of September 2025, the following can be noted:
Cockpit interior readiness: 99%
Aircraft systems readiness for the initial release: 95%
Cockpit lighting system readiness: 99%
Sound package readiness: 90%
External 3D model readiness: 75%
Passenger cabin interior readiness: 0%
Currently, test builds of the aircraft with a fully functional cockpit are being evaluated — system operations, indications, performance, navigation system, and flight model are being tested. The testing is carried out by the team’s chief pilot along with several real ATR 72 pilots.
Estimated release date: 2026.
